I have light brown hair and I wanted to get to an ash blonde. I couldn't decide whether to highlight it or do all over color. I was convinced that highlighting was the way to go, but now I wish I had just done all over color.

You can dye over yoru highlights....or you can get more highlights. I'be pretty much mangled my hair beyond repair and I don't know my natural color anymore :-)

I think it's easier to just dye over the highlights.
If you highlight it to fill in the spaces, you might miss some places and it might look uneven.
=) Plus a full dye is easier because you can just dump it on, and not have to precisely line certain areas.

Yes, they can do a partial. It is cheaper than a full highlighting job. It touches up the roots and everything blends in more, making it look like you have color on all your hair.

if you dye over your highlights, your highlights are going to still show because you dont have an even hair color. my advice is to go to a hairstylist and tell them you want an even hair color and im guessing they would have to bleach your hair so you can get an even hair color.
