Hair problem!!!!! Highlights???

I've died my hair before but I've never put highlights in myself.

It depends on what effect you are going for. I you want skinny all over high lights try using a cap that you pull hair thru then you apply the lighting mixture and wait till your hair is lightened pass what is called the brass zone. It also depends if your hair has color and what color. If you recently colored your hair darker than a level 3 your hair may not go pass the brass zone (level 3 is about a dark brown level 2 is a very dark brown and level 1 is black or blue black) If you want chunky high lights there is a cap you can buy at Sally's Beauty Supply that has larger holes for a chunkier effect other than that I don't recommend the mascara wand, tooth brush and weird looking comb kits the ones you buy at wal mart Walgreen's and other places that sell them. ok, well you should get a kit

follow the intructions very carefully

basically, iits like a mascara brush, and you start from root to tip like your brushing your hair with the brush, exept its putting in the highlights ..... the box packet should have very detailed intructions

highlights are tricky especially doing it alone i have tried many times and failed. its too hard to see which pieces are processing and which ones arent also when toning the color its hard to match the shades. also the bleach will lighten you roots much faster than the dyed hair posing another problem. if money is an issue i suggest going to a school like toni and guy acadamy and getting it done there it will cost like 30$ for a wash color and cut

get one of those streaking packs with the cap...their easy to use and u get good results

I'd say save your money and have it done professionally. It's not something you do all the time, so do it right from the get go.

get a highlighting kit. you should have a friend come over and you can both do it and if you are not comfertable doing it for yourself ask her to do it. and their you go! :)
