Is it the highlights thats done this to my hair?

My hair does need a cut, i will admit that...but im trying to grow it and my top layers are already short so im avoiding cutting it. I recently dyed and highlighted my hair, now where the highlights are (along the top) it feels like straw and doesnt look as healthy as before....should i just deep condition this to get my hair healthy again, or will i need to get it cut? What can i do to avoid getting it cut but keeping it healthy? I do straighten my hair quiet a lot, but im willing to only do that only occasionally if thats gonna help it to get healthy again.

If you dye your hair in any way what so ever, you need to take extra care of it.

The high lights arnt to blame, its everything all together.

The dying

The straighning

The "needing a hair cut"

Firstly you need to invest in a good conditioner. "Aussie 3 minute miracle" is a good high street one. (the best you`ll get from the shelves anyway)

A good professional one that we sell in my salon is "joice kpak, reconstructer"

Which ever one you choose, apply it to your hair following the instructions on the product ATLEAST 3 times a week.

Only wash your hair once a week, because washing hair too often takes all the natural oils from your hair. this leads to your hair drying out and being starved of moisture. On average you should ony be washing your hair 2 a week anyway. so because your hair is damaged you should try to only wash it 1 a week (if you tend to have greasy hair, you should just wear it in a ponytail)

Only straighten your hair if you really need to (alot of the time people straighten there hair because there so obsessed with perfection) nobody needs to straighten there hair everyday. There are so many different styles out there to play with, and it will give you a change of look not to have it straight everyday.

You should ALWAYS get your hair "trimmed" not cut (as you put it) every 4-6 weeks. This will actually make your hair grow faster and take the damaged hair away. Not trimming your hair means that the split (damaged) hair just keeps riding up, up and up. but getting it trimmed will trim the ends off the split ends leaving your hair healthy and strong.

Gettin your hair trimmed every 4-6 weeks will make repair your hair and make it grow faster than just leaving it to grow would.

Good Luck

instead of straightening it, try taking a big round brush and a blowdryer on wet hair... or the deep conditioner will really help. try mayo...

you should def deep condition your hair, stop from straightening it and yeah ur gona def need a cut u dont have to chop everything up but for a few months get a trim and try to get rid of the bad hair...DO NOT COLOR IT FOR AT LEAST 4-6mon or ur hair WILL be damaged for good. u need to let it regain its strenght becuase of all the bleaching and the dying of the hair... do not straight it if anything try to use gel or mousse and style it that way for a while. hope this helps

Highlights can be responsible for hair feeling like straw. Deep conditioning may help, and you will need loads of moisturising products. Speak with your hairdresser to get the good quality stuff, don't bother with the supermarket varieties - they never work as well. I usually have to have mine cut out when they go like straw. Straightening will add to your problems, your hair is being cooked further. Always straighten after you've used a protectant, and as you already realised, straighten less often if possible to give your hair a rest.

Well i would recommend using a shampoo and conditoner used speficially for chemically damanged hair ,, i recommend "dumb blonde" by tigi and with this product you can use the conditioner as a hair mask also, its works great and help restore your hairs pH level and keep it hydrated and balanced also i would recommend redkens anti snap which you put on towel dryed hair as a leave in conditioner. It works wonders combined. GOOD LUCK!!
