i got highlights yesterday. i wanted a honey brown but it came out reddish orange. do the highlights fade after shampooing? is there some kind of product out there that tones it down?

yes, they'll fade out with washing, mine do.........putting anything else on your hair may damage it...........

Of course they're permanent, you're bleaching your hair! You have to let them grow out, cut em off, or dye them.

It will grow out, but on mine, i swan a lot in chlorine and that made them fade. Chlorine, I think, is the best option.
