I have dark redish highlights, but I don't really like them. If I went to the salon and had a professional cover it up with black, do you think that would cover up the highlights? Btw, my hair color is dark brown with the redish highlights.

Just do a color rinse, don't use any peroxide.
It will dull out the red highlights. Use a color rinse closest to your own color.

yes it will as long as the hair dye you want is darker than the lowlights. all your hair will accept the darker hair dye and will be the same color again
