depends on what kind of blonde you want to go. If your going for the sort of natural softer blonde then you could just bleach it. But if your going for beach blonde or "hollywood" blonde than you def should go highlights there, the brighter you want it the longer you have to leave it in, the longer you leave it in hte more damaging.
