I want to get my hair highlighted! My hair is black so what colour highlights would look good?

The best thing to do is ask the person who is doing your hair. A beautician can give you the best answer and the best highlight for your hair.

I want to get my hair highlighted! My hair is black so what colour highlights would look good?

i would get blonde highlights hon they would look fab on you

I want to get my hair highlighted! My hair is black so what colour highlights would look good?

Dark red

I want to get my hair highlighted! My hair is black so what colour highlights would look good?

Dont go blond it'll come out yellow/ prange. Go for red or pink highlights

I want to get my hair highlighted! My hair is black so what colour highlights would look good?

do you want a dramatic look or a more natural looking one??

dramatic: pink, red, or bright blue looks really cool with black hair

natural: try a deep chestnut brown...or a brown no more than 4 shades lighter than black....it'll look great with black hair!

dont get blonde...or anything too light because it might come out wrong and u can end up with skunk hair...

try asking your hair stylist for ideas...they are pros at this so they might know more than us

I want to get my hair highlighted! My hair is black so what colour highlights would look good?

Go for caramel colours or reds. They both will look ace on black hair!

I want to get my hair highlighted! My hair is black so what colour highlights would look good?

golden blond

I want to get my hair highlighted! My hair is black so what colour highlights would look good?

Black-blue so that when the light hits you have a faint blue hue to the hair. That would be so neat to look at!

I want to get my hair highlighted! My hair is black so what colour highlights would look good?

Definately red its amazing!!!!

Red and black every time.

I want to get my hair highlighted! My hair is black so what colour highlights would look good?

I think you should consult your hairdresser first but i think depending on how drastic you want your look to be, deep red highlights should look great or even a light brown would work.

I want to get my hair highlighted! My hair is black so what colour highlights would look good?

Black hair with blonde highlights wont look that great, go with red or medium to light brown highlights.

I want to get my hair highlighted! My hair is black so what colour highlights would look good?

you should have a foil weave done it looks the best use High lifting tints to high lite your hair ,as long as you don't already have a black tinted hair already and you should have a professional do your hair for you its not the money you send its an investment in yourself

I want to get my hair highlighted! My hair is black so what colour highlights would look good?

~*RED!*~

I want to get my hair highlighted! My hair is black so what colour highlights would look good?

I am a hairdresser and I would advise a magenta colour or purple ,go talk to your hairdresser, and be guided by her.

I want to get my hair highlighted! My hair is black so what colour highlights would look good?

Depends on if you are getting it done by a pro or doing it yourself. With black hair the best looking colors are reds %26amp; light browns-medium browns

I want to get my hair highlighted! My hair is black so what colour highlights would look good?

If your hair is black then try blonde high lights!

I want to get my hair highlighted! My hair is black so what colour highlights would look good?

LISTEN TO ME!!!!!!!!!! ok now that i got ur attention, i did the same thing. I have black hair and i went for a brown carmal color and it came out great!!!!! u shouldnt go for a light color because highlights liten up after a while. so go for a dark color because in the the end they will slowly lighten up. not to dark, i would say carmalish. Have fun!!!!!!!!!!

I got my hair highlighted this morning, will taking a shower tonight affect the highlights?

When I get my hair highlighted my hairdresser always tells me to wait at least 24 hours before I shampoo my hair but it's ok to get it wet. She said it has to do with the absorption of the color into the hair.

I got my hair highlighted this morning, will taking a shower tonight affect the highlights?

no it wouldnt effect your highlights.

just use a color protectant shampoo and conditioner.

then that should keep your highlights in a few weeks longer than normal.

I got my hair highlighted this morning, will taking a shower tonight affect the highlights?

if you don't get your hair wet but yes you are supposed to wait at least 24 hours before washing your hair or the color will come out

I got my hair highlighted this morning, will taking a shower tonight affect the highlights?

it depends, washing won't hurt blonde highlights, but if there's any form of red you need to wait 2-3 days to wash your hair so that the red has time to set in completely

I got my hair highlighted this morning, will taking a shower tonight affect the highlights?

not really but you have no need to wash your hair tongiht, they should have done that at the salon and your hair should smell really good! If it was a perm blek that'd be a whole nother story!

I got my hair highlighted this morning, will taking a shower tonight affect the highlights?

No...

when I first dyed my hair I was paranoid it would all like come out xD

But it doesn't 8D

I got my hair highlighted this morning, will taking a shower tonight affect the highlights?

no not at all

I got my hair highlighted this morning, will taking a shower tonight affect the highlights?

yes,

you are not supposed to wash your hair until 48 hours has passed AFTER it was coloured

I got my hair highlighted this morning, will taking a shower tonight affect the highlights?

No it won't wash out

I got my hair highlighted this morning, will taking a shower tonight affect the highlights?

i never wash my hair the day i get my color and highlights done. i wait a couple of days usually. my hair is clean from being at the salon so a couple of day's is how long i wait.

I got my hair highlighted this morning, will taking a shower tonight affect the highlights?

Absolutely not...as long as you are using a shampoo and conditioner that is for highlighted or color treated hair. I prefer John Frieda Highlighting Activating Light Enhancer shampoo and conditioner: if you are darker blonde go with Honey to caramel if you are a lighter blonde go with platinum to champagne. after you wash your hair follow with Healthy Attitude nourishing leave in conditioner and then once you have dried your hair to make it silky use dream creme instant silkener. You can check out www.johnfrieda.com. hope this helps

I got my hair highlighted this morning, will taking a shower tonight affect the highlights?

Ha!! I am going to throw you for a loop! It depends on how the highlights were put in. If they applied the highlights with a bleach, you have nothing to worry about, because this process REMOVED hair color, so shampooing will not put color back. However, if they applied them with a bleach, then used a toner, you really should wait. Bleached hair no longer holds on to color very well, so the toner will tend to fade quickly. But even then, once the toner fades, you will still definately have highlights, they just might be more brassy or possibly lighter than when you left the salon (depending on the color of the toner that was used. Lastly, if your hair was completely dye-free to begin with and the highlights were applied with a highlift color, you should again wait to wash it. Highlights applied with this method will fade over time and can leave the hair looking slightly brassy as it starts to fade. Of course, you may have no idea how they were applied, so just go ahead and skip the wash tonight. But there really is no reason to wash your hair right after getting it done unless you have been doing something that caused it to get overly dirty.

Hair color, or highlights...im confused.?

Ok so I want to get a redish blondish color for my hair, the thing is i dont want all my hair that color, I really just want one pin stripe streak in my hair. But I dont know whether to get the normal hair color, or something to do highlights, I looked for a highlight thing but all they had was blonde and brown highlighters. But I also bought me some of that lemon spray thats lightens your hair when you go outside. Do you think it would be a good idea to do the pin stripe thing if that lemon spray is gonna bring out some highlights in my hair???

Idk im so confused.

Hair color, or highlights...im confused.?

Highlight would stand out if you give it a nature look [like if you're blone, highlighted hazel nut brown] but if you want it kinda reddish blone, try strawberry blone highlight.

Good luck[=

-qd.

Hair color, or highlights...im confused.?

well that lemon spray is not going to give you the color highlights you want the only thing lemon spray does is lighten it up so i would suggest putting the color highlights you want in and leave the lemon spray a lone it also drys your hair out that lemon spray does it has a lot of alcohol in it

Best hair highlights?

i wanna a mix of colors maybe like red, brown, and blonde in it what colors would be better?

Best hair highlights?

All of these are a great color combination. Get a color foil with all of them in it. Especially if your natural hair color is a dark brown, light brown or dark blonde. Get it with very large chunks in it, or smaller chunks like the farouk picture. Cosmetologist for 12 years.

Best hair highlights?

i think u should just stick to 1 color, but if u want ALL those colors, u might have to do each color separetl!y

Best hair highlights?

red and blonde looks soo cute !! you should def. go with that !! im putting my hair that way too. good luck 閳?br>Best hair highlights?

Go with any Loreal Feria colors-especially their red tones

Best hair highlights?

Well your avatars hair is red so I can only assume your highlighting red hair...I'd say caramel blonde highlights, dark red would probably look good. I'm not so sure about the brown, but its whatever expresses you and makes you happy so go for it.

Best hair highlights?

it wouldnt look good with all that colours, just choose one, just choose a lighter colour highlight of ur hair colour,it'll look modern n natural look..

Can I use a light blonde hair color to get rid of the yellow tones in my blonde highlights?

I recently used a bleach to highlight my hair and now (the highlights) looks yellowy. My natural color is light/medium brown. I f I apply a light blonde hair color to my whole head, to give my highlights a lighter/beige look, will it drastically lighten my dark hair? Or would a toning shampoo do the job?

Can I use a light blonde hair color to get rid of the yellow tones in my blonde highlights?

i think a toning shampoo should do the job i just did mine and thats what they used on me...good luck

Can I use a light blonde hair color to get rid of the yellow tones in my blonde highlights?

You shouldn't use bleach to lighten your hair- it can look white or yellow. Just try to color them light brown, and redo them when you have a chance.

Can I use a light blonde hair color to get rid of the yellow tones in my blonde highlights?

i think you should apply a toner, there are different types like champayne blonde which should take the yellow out, also i have just discovered the most amazing thing to fix damaged hair, i over bleached my hair to the extent it was elasticy at the end and this stuff completly fixed it! ill let u in on the secret, its called clynol id care repar, regenerate intensive collagen treatment, its amazing!!!

Can I use a light blonde hair color to get rid of the yellow tones in my blonde highlights?

If you use a regular blonde color all over your head your dark hair will be much lighter and brassier It will be this brassy orangy strawberry blonde color because medium brown hair has a lot of underlying red/orange/gold pigment. However the highlights will be a beige blonde so the contrast will be very off. Instead what I recommend is that you get a shampoo and colorglaze specifically designed for highlighted blonde hair. Another word of advice for you glaze=toner and toner=glaze but the glaze is better on your hair because it tones and add shine in your hair without peroxide. Try the John Frieda Shampoo COnditioner plus colorglaze platinum to champagne for lighter shades of blonde hair. Your highlights will have the platinum look with these products without using peroxide.

Dyed Hair Black. Previous Highlights showing...?

Back in October of 07 I had my hair colored brown w/ gold highlights(pic tak. But because it was lighter it started looking raggedy, and I didn't like contrast of my hair and my eyebrows.

http://img228.imageshack.us/img228/2707/...

( A year before that I had highlights done throughout my hair as well) In December '07 so I decided to go black. (Revlon ColorSilk #10).

http://img228.imageshack.us/img228/5859/...

lol my hair is wild.

Well, now the highlights I had done previously are starting to show. And I have new growth. I've been using John Frieda's Brunette luminous color glaze so the color wouldn't get too brassy or weird.

http://img217.imageshack.us/img217/661/p...

http://img217.imageshack.us/img217/3432/...

So my question is SHOULD I dye it? Or give my hair a rest? I have this itch to dye it, but I'm apprehensive. Colors I was considering are Feria's Expresso or Chocolate. What color would u suggest?

Dyed Hair Black. Previous Highlights showing...?

wow! i wish i had a big fro like urs with the black hair i loved that on ur i think ur should give a rest because it could cause chemical damage. but if u decided to go with color i say try chocolate i think it would look nice on u

Dyed Hair Black. Previous Highlights showing...?

yoir hair in the first pic is gorgeous!!!.

Hair highlights: What is ratio of peroxide to colour and how long to develop? Thanks?

50/50 mix and it should be left to develop roughly 45 mins depending on the brand. please read instruction leaflets if in doubt.

Hair highlights: What is ratio of peroxide to colour and how long to develop? Thanks?

as a salon owner I have to say if you don't know this already you really should not be doing it yourself, your hair is your crowing Glory don't ruin it please, I could tell you the rate but again i have no idea the volume you would be using

and I would not want the blame go to a salon please, or use a model night much cheaper and 100% supervision as well

best wishes

Hair color and highlights?

i have medium-dark brown hair, light brown eyes, and fair skin (which gets a golden glow in the summer). i want to either get highlights or dye my hair a completely different color and i can't decide what to do so please tell me which you think would look better:

1) caramel blonde highlights

2) red highlights

3) dye hair auburn

4) dye hair light brown and highlight

5) dye hair blonde completely

oh yea, and i recently cut my hair into a bob (but i plan on growing it out again), so idk if that makes any difference or not.

Hair color and highlights?

It depends on what color brown your eyes are. Do they have golden flecks in them, or are they a more neutral brown? With your golden skin tone in the summer, I don't like the idea of red or auburn in your hair. As a stylist we usually do more neutral colors in the spring and summer and more golden or red colors in the fall and winter to complement the lighter skin tones you get then. I would leave your natural color alone and just put some caramel highlights throughought with a neutral tint. Some people consider caramel to have a reddish tint. I don't. It will be cheaper and there will be less maintenance to just put highlights in your hair instead of changing the entire color. Hope this helps!

Hair color and highlights?

I think same color hair and either auburn or red highlights would look hot in your hair ^_^

Caramel Highlights look good.. but not much...highlights are kinda out of style..the original look is much more appealing.

What color hair highlights look good on olive skin girls with black hair and brown eyes?

my friend and i have black hair and olive skin tone and she went and had blonde highlights put in her hair, it took a day to get used to but it looks soo great! i would say blonde definitely :)

What color hair highlights look good on olive skin girls with black hair and brown eyes?

with that natural colouring, you can't go wrong with red, copper, or caramel coloured highlights

What color hair highlights look good on olive skin girls with black hair and brown eyes?

Most people suggest to someone with your coloring to go with reddish tones. Even the pros will tend to do that. But in my own experience, that is SO WRONG for black hair/olive skin. What might look good might surprise you. Dark ASH blonde highlights can look stunning with your coloring. Do make sure to lighten the base to a med-light brown also. Make sure you find a really good colorist. And don't overhighlight! Less is more.

What color hair highlights look good on olive skin girls with black hair and brown eyes?

either red or a light kind of caramel colour would look nice

What color hair highlights look good on olive skin girls with black hair and brown eyes?

red would look good or even a lighter brown

What color hair highlights look good on olive skin girls with black hair and brown eyes?

red, copper, caramel. nothing too light or shallow. You need rich warm tones

How long do i need to lay in the sun to give my hair natural highlights?

My hair is dark brown, and i want to highlight the top a little without product or lemon juice or anything because my mother will not let me :)

How long do i need to lay in the sun to give my hair natural highlights?

A really really long time....youll have to burn a few times for that to happen.

How long do i need to lay in the sun to give my hair natural highlights?

It'll probably lighten your hair, not have little strand of highlights that I think you're looking for. It'll also take FOREVERR.

I want to highlights my hair but i don't know how?

how to do highlights for hair?

I want to highlights my hair but i don't know how?

Go to a professional, otherwise it will come out badly.

I want to highlights my hair but i don't know how?

Go To A Hair Professional. Nothing Can Compare To A Great Hair Professional. Check For A Professional (Colorist) In Your Yellow Pages In Your Local Phone Directory.

You could always try and do it yourself by purchasing a home highlighting kit at a discount store, but if you have NEVER done it before, I would NOT recommend it. The first(and might I add ONLY time) I tried to do it myself, by hair was literally ORANGE.

If you have someone who can help you, it may not be to bad, but I still think with my first time I would have it done professionally, and ask the hairstylist if he or she can recommend anything that can be used over the counter that is good for your hair and that you can do yourself.

GOOD LUCK!

I want to highlights my hair but i don't know how?

i know they all said it, but trust me, just go to a hair salon. i tried so many times to do it myself and sometimes they would come out okay, but not that great. other times you wouldn't see them at all. just don't waste your money and time.

if you really want to do them yourself then just get them done professionally once. and then try to do the touch ups yourself.

I want to highlights my hair but i don't know how?

go to the hairdressers let them see what they can do.

I want to highlights my hair but i don't know how?

U know how to read don't you? Just buy a box %26amp; follow the instructions.

Or go to a salon.

I want to highlights my hair but i don't know how?

i heard that if you put lots of lemon juice in your hair and go into the sun for about 2 hours, then go inside and wash your hair with shampoo and conditioner, it'll be blondeee.

hope that helped ~ 鈾?Jill 漏

What's the best way to achieve chunky (healthy) highlights on african-american hair?

I highlight my hair all the time using the foil method, My best friend whom is African-American wants me to highlight her hair. She says that the salon that she goes to only uses the cap and she wants chunky highlights. I told her that I wouldn't touch her hair 'till I was for sure that I wasn't going to make her hair too damaged (obviously dye damages your hair anyway). Do we have to use a special brand of dye that would cause less breakage? What about henna? and bleach? HELP ME OUT HERE I really want her her to BE ALL ABOUT THE BUSINESS! I love my sister ;D

What's the best way to achieve chunky (healthy) highlights on african-american hair?

go to a salon.

What's the best way to achieve chunky (healthy) highlights on african-american hair?

I think with her being African American, she would look really good with auburn or copper highlights, do the mohawk method, top of head to back of crown and leave an inch between foils. For the highlights to be very prominate, she will need to have the hair that she wants highlighted to be bleached first or it will not show.

My hair is like very very badd!! frizzy and curly on th bottom but not top.! can i put highlights in

my hair is very frizzy ...and curly on the bottom... (( kindaa badd)) well i wanna get blonde highlights.. my hair is brown.. and i wanna get them but my mom says that if i do then it will make my hair worst and looked frizzy and burned.. itsz better understood in spanish.. wen she says it .. so sumtin like that but i wanna get them soo badd!!!! will that happen to my hair .. will it make it worst if i get blonde highlights?? HELP ME OUTT!!! pleasee!! PLEASEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!

My hair is like very very badd!! frizzy and curly on th bottom but not top.! can i put highlights in my hair?

Highlights are very damaging, Your Mom is right, if your hair is frizzy, bleaching it (even if only in strands) will make it frizzier. If you really want to do it anyway, get a haircut first, have ALL the dry ends cut off. Use deep conditioning treatments, or if you don't want to spend the $$$ on that, put olive oil in your hair once a week and wrap it in a hot towel until the towel cools down, about half an hour. Use shampoos for dry hair, or curly hair, and only wash it every other day or so, and use quality conditioners for color treated or dry hair. This should keep the frizz down.

My hair is like very very badd!! frizzy and curly on th bottom but not top.! can i put highlights in my hair?

if its your roots coming in and you want to stay the light color yes go to a salon and have them only hightlight the roots.......... Report It

My hair is like very very badd!! frizzy and curly on th bottom but not top.! can i put highlights in my hair?

Darling I would suggest you get a deep treatment before applying any color to your hair

My hair is like very very badd!! frizzy and curly on th bottom but not top.! can i put highlights in my hair?

Try shaving it and start over. It might grow back different

My hair is like very very badd!! frizzy and curly on th bottom but not top.! can i put highlights in my hair?

You need to get layers cut into your hair. The reason why it is curly on the bottom is because the weight of the hair is pulling it straight at the top. As for the frizz, try Chi Silk Infusion. Just smoosh a little into your hair. Blonde highlights are really nice on brown curly hair because it defines the curls. Good luck!

My hair is like very very badd!! frizzy and curly on th bottom but not top.! can i put highlights in my hair?

I suggest going to a salon and asking about it first.

My hair is like very very badd!! frizzy and curly on th bottom but not top.! can i put highlights in my hair?

listen to your mom honey that frizz is split ends and u need to conditon and cut that before adding anything

Where can I find an excellent hair salon in the DC/MD/VA area, especially for blonde highlights?

I highlight my hair very blonde, although I don't like big chunky highlights, and I hate it when you get your hair done and the start of the highlights at the root are very obvious. Anyone know of a great salon, or better yet a great hairdresser for color and highlights? Price is not very important. Thanks!

Where can I find an excellent hair salon in the DC/MD/VA area, especially for blonde highlights?

I don't know where those places are, but my suggestion for a place to get highlights (or anything hair related) is fantastic sams. That's where I got mine done.

Where can I find an excellent hair salon in the DC/MD/VA area, especially for blonde highlights?

You could try Oyko Beauty Salon in Georgetown. Their address is 2903 M St. NW and their number is 202-342-2675. I've heard they're really good. Or maybe Vidal Sassoon in Tyson's Corner.

i died my hair strawberry blonde. then i put blonde highlights in it. is there any shampoo or remedy that i can use to wash out both the highlights and hair die?

I died my hair a blonde color then put blonde highlights in it is there a remedy that can wash out the colors?

only if it wasnt permanent. if it was permanent u'll just have to re-dye it. sorry. :(

I died my hair a blonde color then put blonde highlights in it is there a remedy that can wash out the colors?

i died my natural red hair black, and i don't like it. i am looking for the same thing as you. i think it is a very strong chemical that is used, though i am not sure. good luck =)

I died my hair a blonde color then put blonde highlights in it is there a remedy that can wash out the colors?

i did the same thing two weeks ago. you have to buy clarifing shampoo and mosterizing conditioner. the clarifing shampoo is like paint thinner (only smells nice!) it will strip out everything unnatrual from your hair, that's why you'll need the moiserizing conditioner. The brand I found is called Ion. It only took a couple of applications to get the color out of my hair which turned green after I dyed it!!

I died my hair a blonde color then put blonde highlights in it is there a remedy that can wash out the colors?

Wash your hair with Dawn liquid dish soap like 3 or 4 times and it should get most of the dye out.

If you put blonde over red highlights, will hair turn orange?

I have naturally medium brown hair but currently have reddish highights. I want to go back to having golden blonde highlights. What's the transition process going to be like? I will definitely be going to a professional for the actual coloring, but I don't want to make an appointment and go there just for them to tell me that my hair will turn orange. I'd rather just keep my hair as is then go through some long transition process right now.

If you put blonde over red highlights, will hair turn orange?

If the person is a professional and knows what they are doing, it wont turn orange..You will get blonde..But find a reputable colorist. If they give you that answer about going orange, then walk out and find someone else who has the confidence and ability to get the job done.

If you put blonde over red highlights, will hair turn orange?

yeah and it would look gay

If you put blonde over red highlights, will hair turn orange?

I have my hair dyed a pretty bright red and I have blond and black highlights and the blond over the red does not turn anything orange. I have it done professionally and it turns out great. I've been doing it for over a year without any problems, so I don't think you should have anything to worry about, as long as you go to a good place.

If you put blonde over red highlights, will hair turn orange?

i don't think you should 'case that would totally suck if it did.

If you put blonde over red highlights, will hair turn orange?

yeah,if you want your hair to turn out orange.it might even turn out bright red.red highlights mixed with blond make bright red hair.not a good idea.maybe if you go to a salon but don't do it by yourself.

If you put blonde over red highlights, will hair turn orange?

only a professional should even attempt this, and if it doesn't look right, the WILL redo it for you right then

What is the difference? Hair Highlights question...?

I've never gotten highlights before, and when I called in to make an appointment, she asked if I wanted Highlights or Partial? I don't know the difference, [if there is one], and I said partial, because it was less money. :[ So, anybody know the difference?

What is the difference? Hair Highlights question...?

you can either have full head of high-lights or partial which is top half of your head, if you always have your hair down partial is probably the best one.....

What is the difference? Hair Highlights question...?

Partial means the stylist sticks to the top part of your head, instead of highlighting all over. If you have thick hair, you'll want to go partial otherwise you'll be there forever.

What is the difference? Hair Highlights question...?

Highlights are highlights. A partial just means that a certain portion of the head will be highlighted leaving the rest untouched. Most of the time partial highlights are done to the crown area.

What is the difference? Hair Highlights question...?

partial isnt the full head. I recommend full becuase it will look better and like it took rtime and/or natural.

blonde would look very unnatural in your hair. try a honey, chestnut, or auburn color. i would suggest going to a salon since your hair is such a dark color. remember this rule: when doing highlights go up 2-3 shades lighter than your hair color, when doing lowlights go down 2-3 shades darker than your hair color. Hope this helps and good luck!

What color Hair Highlights for my hair ???

If you have light brown hair or even dark brown hair, blonde highlights can add a ton of depth to your hair. You can weave in up to 3 different types of colors. Ask your stylist about lowlights as well. If you have blonde hair, darker lowlights add more contrast.

What color Hair Highlights for my hair ???

just tell the hairdresser that you want to go lighter, but you dont want to go blonde... maybe like 4 shades lighter than your hair color...

What color Hair Highlights for my hair ???

Caramel lowlights with some blonde highlights. Subtle looks better with a 2 natural colors.

What color Hair Highlights for my hair ???

I had my daughters hair done and was unsure also. I took her to a really good hair dresser that only does color and has for 26 years. She weaved in 2 colors. One is a warm gold, and the other is blonde, mixed with her dark brown, it looks beautiful.

What color Hair Highlights for my hair ???

if you have black hair, brown but if you have brown hair, golden highlights would complement it, if you have blond, something darker but remember, dying, coloring and highlighting damages the hair!

So I got my hair highlighted today with caramel and light blonde highlights?

I also picked up some purple shampoo to cut down on the brassyness. " Schwarzkopf Bonacure Color Save -- Silver " It says for blonde hair to apply and rinse immediately, and for grey hair to leave on 1 - 3 minutes --- If I put it on my hair and leave it on for about a minute . what will happen ?

So I got my hair highlighted today with caramel and light blonde highlights?

Don't leave on too long, since it is formulated for almost white-blonde or silver hair. The caramel highlights could start to turn a little ashy.

So I got my hair highlighted today with caramel and light blonde highlights?

Rinse it immediately to make sure those blondes don't grab hold of the purple hue. It is only for toning. Alot of people think the more the better and that's not the case with this type (or any other professional shampoo, really) of shampoo. You don't need to shampoo with this on a daily basis either...every other shampoo would be sufficiant. Call your stylist back and ask him/her what else you need to do to maintain your new color and highlights and be sure to include this question (it's a GREAT one!!)..they'll welcome your inquiries.

KUDOS to you for going to a salon to have it done!!!!!!!

I recently have hair highlights, can i have chemical straightening from salon?, cos my hair looks so

the stylist said that if i have highlights i cant have it straight...what should i do to remove this stupid highlights?! btw, i have this colored last September, it was color red...now it was awful blonde...do someone knows what to do? thanks a lot (in advance)

I recently have hair highlights, can i have chemical straightening from salon?, cos my hair looks so awful now

Don't do chemical straightening till you've had your highlights for over at least a year, or at least until they're nearly gone. Trust me. My friend's mom did it and she had highlights and the highlighted hair became very brittle and she now suffers from split ends and such.

I recently have hair highlights, can i have chemical straightening from salon?, cos my hair looks so awful now

by chemical straigtning you cant change color. take ligh brown clor from loreal so your hair color may chang. dont go for chemical straightening right now.

I recently have hair highlights, can i have chemical straightening from salon?, cos my hair looks so awful now

hi, technically, u cant remove the highlights, u can at best, cover it with another dye colour. the only way to remove is to cut the highlights away. i believe tt u cant have ur hair straighten its cos chemically treating ur hair is very bad %26amp; really dries up the hair, so i suppose ur stylist advised u against it. the colour change is probably due to poor quality dye or your original hair colour mixed with the dye colour, producing blonde.

I recently have hair highlights, can i have chemical straightening from salon?, cos my hair looks so awful now

How long has it been since you put in the highlights? you shouldn't put any other chemicals in your hair for 6 weeks after you got the highlights. you can go to a salon and have the highlights removed if you like but i wouldnt straighten it for a while.

I recently have hair highlights, can i have chemical straightening from salon?, cos my hair looks so awful now

u cant do anythg 2 tak the highlites away, except keep on trimming ur hair, %26amp; then it l go. y not doing a straightening? u cud do it, after couple of months after highlites, if ur hair is healthy, u cud proceed wth a straightng or perm.

I have medium, blonde, straight hair, natural highlights. I would like a new cut, but am not sure wh

Something flirty, fun and fresh to start off the school year. I am looking at layers and side-swept bangs, but do not know if that would be best to flatter my oval-round face. I am sick of having blah, straight hair, but am not willing to get highlights, extensions, or anything artificial. Please help me find a great new hair cut!

I have medium, blonde, straight hair, natural highlights. I would like a new cut, but am not sure what.?

Oh my GOD! I have medium, straight, blonde hair with natural highlights, too! How weird? Last year, I got long layers with sideswept bangs, I miss it! But now my hair is long, without layers, and beach blonde but I'm thinking about going back to my old cut. You should definitely try it, it looks good on a round face, too.

I have medium, blonde, straight hair, natural highlights. I would like a new cut, but am not sure what.?

I have your same exact hair and I was looking for something flirty and fresh too.

I got it cut to my chin with pieces in front (think claire danes in brokedown palace) and then razor edging to give it texture with splicing to keep it looking a little chunky/choppy. I have an oval face as well. I LOVE my haircut. My hair has always been very long, but this is just so flirty.

I didn't like having stick straight blah hair that did nothing. With it shorter like this, I have TONS of body and volume and style, and I barely have to do anything to it to make it look great! And it's very feminine.

if you're not ready to chop off yor hair, start thinking about multi-length bangs. A friend of mine did that last month. Demi bangs that got gradually, chunkily longer. A GREAT face-frame, and an easy way to add interest to not-so-lively hair.

whatever you decide to do, I always let my stylist have a lot of control. I trust her. They're trained to understand individual face-shape and hair types. Take suggestions from them!

good luck :o)

I want to dye my hair and get blondish highlights but is it hard to get the red to get out of my hai

i have dyed my hair red a couple of times but i want to know if it is diffcult to get brown hair blond highlights because of this reason

I want to dye my hair and get blondish highlights but is it hard to get the red to get out of my hair?

red is usually harder to get in your hair, lots of people find that when they dye their hair that color it fades quickly, so if your hair is red now, you should have no problem with the brown and blonde highlights. i would get it done professionally though, if you mess it up, a color correction is expensive and takes forever!!!

I want to dye my hair and get blondish highlights but is it hard to get the red to get out of my hair?

unless you strip the red out of your hair you probably wont get the highlights you want. For future reference red and black colors are the most difficult to get out of your hair.Good Luck.

I want to dye my hair and get blondish highlights but is it hard to get the red to get out of my hair?

No. I have brown hair and i got red like fire engine red highlights twice and then i went to the Jersey Shore and my higjlights turned blonde/ caramel.

I want to dye my hair and get blondish highlights but is it hard to get the red to get out of my hair?

Go natural. Be the beautiful you that God made you.

Keep smiling!

I want to dye my hair and get blondish highlights but is it hard to get the red to get out of my hair?

If you want Blond Highlights you can either get them done or have someone do them..If you want to do it. I recommend going to a Hairstylist store and Buying Quick Blue, with a 20 Volume Developer. It will not make your hair Blue. It will strip your hair and make it lighter, getting rid of the red. IT should work rather quick. So if your pulling it through a cap you shouldn't have anything to worry about. If your having foils done, make sure that the person doing it is working fast. After use a protein pack to replenish the stripped hair. Bleaching can cause Dry brittle hair.

Good Luck,

Any questions

I want to dye my hair and get blondish highlights but is it hard to get the red to get out of my hair?

I have that problem too, but because I have naturally red low lights. If you are up for spending the money, when I want something other than red I go to the hair salon and my stylist mixes some kind of green tones or something into the hair dye and it neutralizes the red. I'm not exactly sure how she does it, because I am certainly not a hairdresser, but it always turns out. Unfortunately the only way to do it yourself that I have ever heard of is to bleach your hair, which will strip all the color out. I don't mess around with bleach on my own though. I have seen way to many oops from do-it-yourself bleach.

I want to dye my hair and get blondish highlights but is it hard to get the red to get out of my hair?

just make sure u use a toner after you dye it

I want to dye my hair and get blondish highlights but is it hard to get the red to get out of my hair?

bleach it.

I want to dye my hair and get blondish highlights but is it hard to get the red to get out of my hair?

The best to do to get brown with blonde highlights is--- Put a Med. Ash Brown on your hair (ash color will cut the red) then you can highlight it. La Petite is a very good frosting kit. I have been frosting my hair for 5 years, and this has always done good. Have been coloring it for 20 years. Be sure and use a good conditioner after, Good Luck.

Are hair highlights permanent?

i got highlights yesterday. i wanted a honey brown but it came out reddish orange. do the highlights fade after shampooing? is there some kind of product out there that tones it down?

Are hair highlights permanent?

yes, they'll fade out with washing, mine do.........putting anything else on your hair may damage it...........

Are hair highlights permanent?

Of course they're permanent, you're bleaching your hair! You have to let them grow out, cut em off, or dye them.

Are hair highlights permanent?

It will grow out, but on mine, i swan a lot in chlorine and that made them fade. Chlorine, I think, is the best option.

Hair highlights and lowlights?

I want to get highligths amd lowlights done in my hair. i was thinking carmel higlights becausee i've had them before but i don't know what lowlight color to choose. i've have dyed my hair abrun, but some of it still looks kind of brown. any suggestons on what colors to use i'll gladly take.

Hair highlights and lowlights?

carmel is good w/an auburn brown base, you could lowlite w/a vibrant red or if you wanted to change your base to a brighter red-auburn you could do your hilites a medium thickness carmel and lolites in thin sections of black alternate.this look makes the blond and red really stand out and the thin sections of black keeps the look from looking like your head is on fire

Hair highlights and lowlights?

golden blonde highlights in the front

Hair highlights and lowlights?

like a dirty blond

Hair highlights and lowlights?

I have dark brown hair...I did caramel alone, caramel and auburn together, and mahogany alone(my favortie)...ask your hairdresser what would be best for your hair...good luck!!

Hair highlights and lowlights?

i think a dark chocolate color would be pretty with caramel.

Would light brown hair highlights go with black hair?

i have short spikey black hair, would light brown hightlights go nicely with my black hair?

Would light brown hair highlights go with black hair?

i don't think so, hmm.. try posting a picture of your hair and then post tha shade of brown you want to get for highlights. click the, "add details" button and post the pictures up! :)

Would light brown hair highlights go with black hair?

what kind of guy gets highlights?

just saying.

Would light brown hair highlights go with black hair?

light brown probably wont go naturaly with black hair because when dying for a natural look you should go only 1 shade lighter or darker 2 if you think you can get a way with and if its ery multitonal. black hair tensds not to look as multitoned as other hair colours so it will be very hard for it to look natural also there is a chance the light brown with turn a gingery red because you making the hair lighter . your best bet is to go the hairdresses and aks for some natural highlights through your hair. they know best. xxx

Would light brown hair highlights go with black hair?

well, if you want it to match then no but if you want to look super different then yeah

Would light brown hair highlights go with black hair?

yeah they would look great unless ur hair are jet black!

Would light brown hair highlights go with black hair?

It depends on what light brown it is and what kind of black hair you have... If you are going to color your hair then try with a little darker brown first..

How do black girls highlight thier hair? I either want highlights or lowlights.?

I am a mixed/black girl going in 6th grade. I really want highlights or lowlights in my hair. My mom wasn't sure if I could do it cause most of the things they make in stores are for "white girls hair" my mom says. I want pics, website, methods, and ideas. Thanks!

How do black girls highlight thier hair? I either want highlights or lowlights.?

Can your mom take you to a wig store where you could try on

wigs of black hair that have highlights in them to see

how you'd even like the look? I think you'd have to be very

experienced in applying hair color over time, to know what

looks good with your particular skin tones. I have seen some

black women who absolutely had no clue as to what color

they should have used and how brash or harsh looking some

colors make black hair. Especially blond or deep red tones

that come out more purple than red.

I would go to a salon in a neighborhood which specializes

in black hair do's. They've got the knowlege of what has to

happen first before even coloring. Maybe there is a pre

treatment required for the type of hair you have. I know from

working with black childrens hair when I worked in a childrens

home, that their hair was more oily, almost like a baby lamb, before it was brushed. So I'd have it professionally

done, where they take a test strip to see what the color will

be like before they do an entire head of hair. Once I saw the

most beautiful shade of deep burgundy on a white woman in

a reception job. And I had to ask where she had it done. And

she told me it was in a black womans' shop on such and

such street and it took her hours for the complete coloring

and braiding of the curls she had done. I have yet to see any-

thing as fabulous as her hair color and style to this day. The

person who did her, was an artist.

How do black girls highlight thier hair? I either want highlights or lowlights.?

They bleach the pieces of hair they want to highlight.

How do black girls highlight thier hair? I either want highlights or lowlights.?

its the same process to highlight hair as it is whites

How do black girls highlight thier hair? I either want highlights or lowlights.?

I would go into a salon. It's too risky for anyone to do their own color and the last thing you want is for it to turn out bad and have to show face at school.

How do black girls highlight thier hair? I either want highlights or lowlights.?

my friends get their hair braided and they have the person braid in like different shades of brows and blondes

Natural hair highlights? lemon?

i have golden brown blonde hair with hints of red here and there but recently my hairs been getting a lot darker and all my friends want me to dye my hair to what it used to be but my mom wont let me so r there any other ways ive heard of 2 tablespoons of lemon juice in your shampoo but does it really work? P.S. i dont want my hair to get dry.

Natural hair highlights? lemon?

Lemon juice will not lighten your hair when mixed with shampoo. Some people think that adding peroxide to your hair will lighten it, too, it will not. If you apply lemon juice and or peroxide and hang out at the beach all day in the sun, then yes, you will see some natural highlights from the sun. That's really the only way - natural sun kissed highlights. Unfortunately, with winter approaching, the sun kissed hilights are much harder to come by.

Natural hair highlights? lemon?

Yeah, it will only dry out your hair if you add it to your shampoo.

Before you go to school you should run some lemon juice through your hair. That way, the lightness will come naturally.

It kinda dries it out so be prepared.

Natural hair highlights? lemon?

yes lemon juice will work with some help of the sun!!

HAIR highlights...? HELP special effects dye?

are you supposed to BLEACH your hair to do it cuz i REALLY don't want to...

is this a good product...?

ay suggestions on wat i should do?

any other recommendations?

and if i bleach my hair it won't be very good or will damage my hair right??

HAIR highlights...? HELP special effects dye?

What i recomend is to use lemon juice. It lightens your hair and if you put a lot in and does make a HUGE difference its SOO much cheaper than dying it and its REALLY EASY. if you want to highlight your hair put lemon juice just in strands of it. I do it all the time and it comes out great! HAVE FUN!

HAIR highlights...? HELP special effects dye?

Special effects like glow in the dark?

HAIR highlights...? HELP special effects dye?

Bleaching your hair is very damaging. Unless you have done it before (on yourself) I would go to a salon to have it done.

Professional products are made to be healthier on your hair then just what you buy at a store and use at home.

HAIR highlights...? HELP special effects dye?

if your hair is a dark color no matter what color you put in it, it won't be bold as if you put it on blonde hair. Bleaching your hair will dry it out faster and if not done right will completely damage your hair and turn it into cotton candy texture. So I suggest maybe lightening it a little by a professional and then maybe you can add this special effects dye. Remember this dye isnt' easy to get out so if you do highlight it your hair will be well on its way to damaged and if you want to take this special effects dye out you will almost have to do the same again just to get it out. Just remember this kind of damage and every color you put in your hair will stay there till you cut it off. Just because you color over it and can't necessarily see it doesn't mean it isn't there. More info message me. I am a stylist of 15 years.

HAIR highlights...? HELP special effects dye?

It's okay to bleach your hair; I've done it myself several times now.

Firstly, make sure you're following the instructions that came with your bleaching kit; it sounds stupid, but they are invaluable.

The key thing to remember, to avoid damage, is to make sure you wash your hair, preferably twice, as soon as your hair is bleached to the color you want. This will get out all the excess bleach.

After giving myself blonde highlights, I've found that the new blonde section tend to not feel as healthy for about a week. To combat this, I've used more conditioner on my hair, and made sure to target the bleached areas with conditioner.

Also, you probably take better care of your hair than this, but definitely avoid 2-in-1 shampoo and conditioner products if you do this.

HAIR highlights...? HELP special effects dye?

Special Effects (Manic Panic, too) is a good semi-permanent dye, however, if you want the color to resemble the sample/swatch, you HAVE to bleach your hair. Also, remember that it may say semi-permanent, but this may not be held true. Consider this: semi-permanent dyes 'stain' your hair...So if you dropped red dye on white carpet, you could probably get there stain out, but only after washing it over and over, and even then, you may have a hint of pinkish color left over. It's the same thing with your hair, so semi-permanent dyes wash out over time, but you may need to dye over them or bleach them out if you get tired of the color.

For darker reds, you do not necessarily need to achieve a high-lift, so its ok if your hair is still a little yellow after bleaching. Sometimes you can apply a darker red dye right onto brownish or black hair, and it will leave a reddish shimmer, but usually nothing dramatic and you may be the only person who notices.

However, if you are going for blues, purples, or anything pastel, then your hair MUST be very light blonde (like the inside of a banana peel) to achieve those results. If you try to apply purple or especially blue dye onto hair that is still yellow and brassy, then the results will be greenish and undesireable.

Bleaching hair can be damaging, but it all really depends on the condition of your hair to begin with. If your hair has already been treated with dye, highlights, perms/relaxers, then it could be questionable whether or not you should bleach. Overprocessing hair can be very upsetting, because your hair WILL fall apart (it happened to me!). Virgin (unprocessed) hair is usually more forgiving. Also, to achieve the appropriate level of lift, you may need to bleach your hair more than once. If you have very dark brown-black hair, you might not be able to achieve that highest level at

all. Just keep in mind that bleaching your hair strips it, and will change the texture, so be prepared.

If you are still uneasy, I would try to find a local alternative salon so a professional can help you along. Everything I have stated is from my own experiences (about 6+ years of dying my own hair ever color of the rainbow). I have had many successes and a handful of failures. One summer I bleached my hair too many times and I had to shave my head because my hair was breaking when I combed it. Those were the days! :)

Good luck!

I used brush on highlights to lighten my hair. This time it turned strawberry blond not light blonde

I have dark blonde/light brown hair. I have always highlighted my hair with a frost/highlight kit with cap. It always turns out very good. It is a nice light blonde. This time I tried the brush on highlights and it turned out like a brassy blonde, or dark blond. I think it looks a lot like strawberry red blond. Is there any product to lighten it more or get rid of the brassiness? Anything else other than coloring it.? It is only on the front, the rest is fine.

I used brush on highlights to lighten my hair. This time it turned strawberry blond not light blonde. Fix??

Yea go to your local beauty mart...where they sell salon products to everybody....and get this container of kaleidocolors it lightens up to 5 levels....it will go as light as you wish :) and a bottle of pure white developer 20 its a cheap and sexy way to do your hair and people will think a professional did it....Its an awesome product try it and let me know how it went :) i have the dark blond to light brown natural hair color and i have used and LOVE this product it only needs to sit on your hair for 10 mins.....and it looks amazing...i totally bleached my hair with it......:) good luck!!! Make sure you buy a brush if your doing highlights...and never mix the product in a metal container....always use plastic :) and it DOESNT cause the yellowness..like most of those products....this is actually a blonde...not yellow

I used brush on highlights to lighten my hair. This time it turned strawberry blond not light blonde. Fix??

i stay dye it back but idk and strawberry blonde is cute so if you cant it will still look good

I used brush on highlights to lighten my hair. This time it turned strawberry blond not light blonde. Fix??

If you still want the highlights, do the same thing with the brush, but go ot the beauty supply and buy bleach (blue Wella is good), with 10 or 20 volume developer. Don't let the sales people talk you into anything higher than that. Do the same thing with the brush technique over the highlights that you have already done. (the cap wont let you get the same pieces to highlight). Do a little strand test first and time it. Then proceed with the rest of it.

The reason that it is orangey is because brown hair goes through color stages when it is lightened.(from brown, to red, to orange to yellow to blonde.) It just didnt lighten past the orange/red stage. The 10-20 volume devloper may take longer to process, but it will do less damage to the already lightened pieces.

Or you could have a pro fix it...good luck! =)

Blonde highlights, black hair?

my hair is dyed black, naturally brown, and i finally decided to get blonde or light brown highlights. should i use bleach first, and then apply the blonde? or is there a way for the bleach to look blonde if it stays in long enough? i'm afraid the bleach will turn out looking orange. or, do i not need bleach?

Blonde highlights, black hair?

Use the bleach first but I think you should highlight it a light to medium Brown!

Blonde highlights, black hair?

do the bleach first. wait a couple of days, then apply the blonde. good luck

Blonde highlights, black hair?

Don't waste time and money in artificial things. Keep your body natural and away from harmful chemicals. Be happy with what you were born with. Have faith in yourself!

Blonde highlights, black hair?

I recently tried the same thing last week. I died my hair jet black firts, then just get the regular blond hair die, it comes with a booster kit it will work with that. Don't use bleach in your hair alone it will damage it.

Blonde highlights, black hair?

I have naturally blonde hair and I dyed mine black....then i decided to put blonde highlights in it,...NO GOOD!! If you dyed it black yourself then you probably stained your hair...then the bleach won't take,..you need salon color on it first to go lighter,...after I learned this the hard way,...(i.e. my hair breaking off really bad and me having to go brown for awhile) DON' T DO IT YOURSELF!! Trust me,...It just dosen't turn out right when you do it.

Blonde highlights, black hair?

bleach several times over 2 weeks if you really want to do it yourself..1 application will defently not turn it blonde straight away, and either will bleaching it and then putting blonde hair dye on it after, there both peroxide and exactly the same, ive done 50 hours in beauty school...black streaks over blonde hair will make the bits uderneath grey and will wash out ..it wont turn out clean fresh colour.

Blonde highlights, black hair?

lighten your natural hair Brown first, the weave in the right shade of blonde, you want it to look natural, not a mess! Good luck,

Blonde highlights, black hair?

I have too girlfriends one went from natural blonde to jet black looked awsome.. the other has black hair %26amp; added Deep purple highlight Just a few %26amp; very subtle but it looks awsome when the light hits it ... i would ask a color specialist befor youmess with bleach.. for one bleach make your hair strands poreus like swiss chesses which make it almost impossible to get color to stick when wanting to change from bleach to color. i had hair almost waist lengh %26amp; colored my self . i ended up not only with a orange tint but a color band of differnt colors around my hair after years of self coloring. It took a lot of hair cuts %26amp; an expensive color tech to fix the problem... advise is to go get a consultation from a salon.. 50 bucks maybe free in the long run u will save time %26amp; money %26amp; the heart ache of ruining your hair

What is the best over the couter Blonde hair dye/highlights to use?

I am already a natural blonde but it's very dark blonde and I wanted to brighten it up some for summer. My hair usually always picks up the blonde in dye and not the red so that is not a worry of mine. i just want it to look like a pretty natural blonde. NOT BLEACH BLONDE! I also usually get it highlighted but I don't have the time or money right now. So if anyone has a good reccomendation please let me know.

What is the best over the couter Blonde hair dye/highlights to use?

Normally I'd say absolutely not, but since you're already blonde you have less chance of looking brassy or ruining your hair.

Honestly I'd have to say go to Sally's, get a cap, and a packet of bright white and mix your own bleach and have a friend pull it through a cap for you.

This way you can monitor the time and placement and amount of blonde without having to use shotty over the counter dye that is so generic because it's supposed to work on "everybody" and you carry more risk.

Not to mention the "paint on" highlights can gop and droop and i've seen more then enough gals in my salon that are totally a wreck because of them. NOT a good idea. You're absolutely lucky if you get it turn out natural and even.

Definitely a better idea to mix your own and it's really not that hard (the girls there can direct you how much to use) AND it's generally the same price if not cheaper!

:)

What is the best over the couter Blonde hair dye/highlights to use?

loreal hun.

What is the best over the couter Blonde hair dye/highlights to use?

Loreal are good. Go for a light ash blonde.

What is the best over the couter Blonde hair dye/highlights to use?

My hair is dark blonde as well, and a few weeks ago I did my own highlights using Clairol Hairpainting. You mix up the stuff yourself and paint on the highlights as thick as you want them. You can put as many as you want and leave it in for different times depending on how light you want to go.

It's great because you don't have to worry about having roots, because when your hair grows the highlights blend in naturally. I left the stuff in for about 40 minutes and it really brightened me up without looking fake at all. I put in a bunch of really skinny highlights all over.

Plus, its cheap. $7 a box, I think. Much easier and cheaper than going to a salon, and its easy to maintain!

Highlights for my hair...?

What is considered "full highlights"

How much does it cost for full highlights?

-My hair was blonde then I died it dark brown. I want to get blonde highlights again, but I dont want it to be dark brown with blonde highlightshttp://z.about.com/d/countrymusic/1/0/C/... ...too much of a contrast .I want different colors of blonde and maybe some light brown. http://www.style-hair-magazine.com/image...

Anyway how much would it cost to get what I want at a nice salon..not a crappy one like borics or any chain salon?

Highlights for my hair...?

full highlights are all over your head

I have male african-american hair, but I'm thinking of blonde highlights, will it even show up?

All right. My hair is thick, african american hair, but it is relaxed and I just tie it back in a pony-tail. I was wondering if I would even be able to get BLONDE highlights/streaks. I'm pretty sure red will show, but I'm not sure about blonde. And is it permanent? If I don't like it, what are my options? And how would you go about doing it? I think I would bleach my hair, but maybe there's some method that's not as efficient but could serve as a test run to see if I want to bleach and highlight my hair. I just would like to know if blonde highlights show up on black hair and what are my options.

I have male african-american hair, but I'm thinking of blonde highlights, will it even show up?

Of course they'll show up. The contrast between black and blonde will be dramatic. No one will be able to miss it.

You will definitely need to bleach. It's the only way to get black hair light enough (even high-lift dyes cannot lift the hair this many levels). Don't stop until your hair has reached a pure yellow shade, unless you want your streaks to be orange. Then apply a violet toner to cancel out the yellow, and voila! You have blonde streaks. If your hair is still in the gold stages after you're done bleaching, you may need to apply a blue toner instead.

You may need to bleach more than once to get your hair light enough, depending on how quickly your hair lightens. Do not leave a single application of bleach in your hair for longer than the time stated on the box, unless you want your hair to get fried.

I'd like to add that since your hair is relaxed, you are risking considerable damage by performing another harsh chemical treatment on it such as bleaching. Proceed at your own risk. African hair is brittle by nature and should be treated kindly. For example, my friend Martine, who is Afro-Caribbean, bleached her relaxed hair - only to an orange-gold shade - and over the next few weeks her chin-length hair broke off strand by strand, leaving her with three inches of destroyed hair which stuck straight out like a Treasure Troll. Keep that in mind before you make your decision.

As a side note, to make her feel better, I took her to the flea market and we both got plaited extensions together. Ahh, memories...

Anyway, good luck!

I have male african-american hair, but I'm thinking of blonde highlights, will it even show up?

Yes, blonde highlights will show up on your hair. I bet your hair will look great with the highlights! Good luck!

I have male african-american hair, but I'm thinking of blonde highlights, will it even show up?

most likely if you are African American, then you have dark brown to black hair. the only way to go lighter is to bleach it, and there isnt really any other methods to get it lighter. The color will go from red to Orange to blonde depending on how long you leave it on.

I have male african-american hair, but I'm thinking of blonde highlights, will it even show up?

it WILL show n it WILL look bad

I have male african-american hair, but I'm thinking of blonde highlights, will it even show up?

Any dark to light transition requires some form of bleaching . . . period. There is NO adding blonde to brunette or black, it is a color removal process so bleaching. Once the color is removed, it stays gone except as the hair grows back, the portion below the hair line at the time it is bleached.

You can start with gentle bleaches until you are comfortable with the look.

I have seen multiple afros that were lightened as light as marilyn monroe and some then done red as apples.

Anything is possible.

I have male african-american hair, but I'm thinking of blonde highlights, will it even show up?

you can try the lightest shade of blonde and use 40 vol of developer it will turn (not white blonde) but a peanut butter color that is pretty on my peoples. then you can always had a semi or rinse to change the color to another. this way you wont have to bleach. I did this on my friend.

I have male african-american hair, but I'm thinking of blonde highlights, will it even show up?

Bleach will work , but it is harsh for your hair.

And if u don't like it, u can always go darker no problem.

Try some wash out temporary highlights, they come in a mascara kind of packaging or spray.

Costume stores, Halloween stuff..

I have male african-american hair, but I'm thinking of blonde highlights, will it even show up?

Yes, it should show up but if I was you, I wouldnt do it. I think it looks bad when even white guys with brownish hair get highlights. Having dark hair and dark skin would make it look even worse.

Dark hair or highlights, shoulder length or long?

shall i cut my long hair to my shoulders? go dark brown like nicole pu ssycat doll or highlighted like jlo. which looks more effective and sexy?

Dark hair or highlights, shoulder length or long?

leave it long and dark brown that's more affective

Dark hair or highlights, shoulder length or long?

Hair Highlights (Pics Included)?

I really like this highlighting style, can anyone *post pics* of the same highlighting style, and same base colour, but a diff highlight colour....I don't mind what colour as long as its *not* red and looks natural pleeeease thanks :)

http://s151.photobucket.com/albums/s149/...

I have fair, pale skin, light blue eyes and same base colour as her if that helps, thanks.

Hair Highlights (Pics Included)?

If you have base colur you can go to a salon and just tell them that you want highlites? Base color is good because if you go all one color it will wash you out!The highlites will make your base color accentuate your face and you won't look so bland.I have dark blonde with highlites and it looks really pretty. Stay your natural color and just get highlites.

Hair Highlights (Pics Included)?

Highlights like that would really suit you, i have the same base colour as her too! I got highlights and they look amazing, but my eyes are brown and your are blue so you can even go platinum and it won't look fake (but platinum is eeeew!).

Highlights for brunette hair?

I want to highlight my hair a golden brown or light brown.

I have medium brown hair and I want to do it at home because the salon is kind of pricey.

The dyes at the store though, always look orange on the box or hair sample and I definatly do not want orange highlights ha.

Any good brands you know would look nice and not turn orange on my hair?

I've never highlighted it/dyed it before either.

Highlights for brunette hair?

I am a licensed cosmetologist and it burns my butt to have to pay someone around $100 to highlight or lowlight my hair too. My suggestion is to go to Sally's. Their membership card is about $5 for the year. There you will have a much better selection and the things you can buy without a professional license are relatively easy to use. Also, you can talk to the people working there as they are licensed so you're not going into this completely blind. Wella is probably a good place to start.

As a licensed cosmetologist with medium to dark brown natural hair I would urge you to do a TEST STRAND BEFORE you highlight. My hair, without a lot of help, will only lift to a brassy orangy color. I also suggest starting with a 20 volume developer, if that doesn't give you the lift you need then try 30 volume. Go to 40 only if you must as it's rough on your hair.

A natural hair product to bring out existing highlights?

I'm looking for a product that will not dye my hair, but rather bring out the highlights within it. I have medium brown hair with subtle red highlights. My hair bleaches and picks up blonde tones in the summertime. Any suggestions? Salon or at home. Thanks!

A natural hair product to bring out existing highlights?

try john frieda's radiant red shampoo and conditioner. it'll bring out the red and enhance the color.

A natural hair product to bring out existing highlights?

You may want to try lemon juice.

I want to highlight my hair but have been on a few prescriptions. What can I do to make my highlight

My hairstylist tried a test strand for a hour and didnt come out to a near platinum I always get but it is more of a brassy blonde. Is there anything I can wash my hair in to let the highlights become lighter? I get highlights every year and since I have been on medication this year they are not taking.

I want to highlight my hair but have been on a few prescriptions. What can I do to make my highlights lighter

Unless you re bleach your hair again- there's nothing out there that will lighten your hair more. If you want it less brassy you can try using Shimmer Lights Shampoo ( or any other violet based shampoo. ) or have your stylist use a toner that will counteract the brassiness.

Highlights for guys hair?

if you have a color printer just print it off and give it to your hair dresser and say this is what i want, and even if the color on the paper isn't exactly the color they will make the assumtion that you want it to look natural and layered like his is.

Good Luck!%26lt;3

Highlights for guys hair?

your bf should like the second one.

I have dark brown hair and I want lots of blonde highlights?

I have highlighted my hair 3 times at a salon. The color she gave me was red mixed with blonde so on my dark brown hair, it really looked nice and lightened up my face. The color was more red and not very bright. This all happened about 2 years ago and I have cut my hair so the color is back to my natural healthy dark brown. I REALLY want to get BLONDE highlights at the salon. But i dont know if its going to look horrible or if it will ruen my hair. I want to have lots of strands of blonde so it almost looks like a girl who has natural blonde hair with brown lowlights. You know what i mean? well thats what i have been wanting and i just dont know if it will ruen my hair or what i should do. I have light to medium skin tone with bright green eyes. Would this be safe and look good? Thanks for your help!

I have dark brown hair and I want lots of blonde highlights?

i think you should try going with a light brown instead. even though your really set on going blonde a lighhter brown will probably look better. because if you add too much blonde you mihgt end up looking like you dyed your hair blonde and you have dark roots. so try light brown highlights first. and if your not interested in that go to hairfinder.com and research your question there. it will definatley help you.

I have dark brown hair and I want lots of blonde highlights?

it should look fine and if your hair is healthy it won't ruin it. It's not colored now right? Just your natural color? Just tell the salon what you want and they can do it and since it's blond if you don't like it just cover it with your natural color agian, it's an easy fix. Good luck

I have dark brown hair and I want lots of blonde highlights?

You should do it! It will look good just make sure the stylist know what there doing, and they don't break your hair off. If it's natural it will lift good and not damage to much, just take care of it(get trims every 2 months and conditioning treatments) so it looks healthy and feels healthy!

I have dark brown hair and I want lots of blonde highlights?

There are multiple ways to lighten your hair. You can go in and highlight the crap out of it. You will always have dark new growth showing through.

You can high light your hair and put a tint in between the foils. After a period of time you will get too light and need high lights, low lights and a retouch. Doing this type of service can get quite costly and needs to be touched up about every four weeks. You do not want to go to long between services or it can cost you more. Color doesn't lighten as well when it becomes grown out from the scalp more than 1/4 of an inch.

As far as damage, it all depends on who does your hair and what they use.

I have been doing both of these services to my hair for many years depending on the look that I want that month.

Good Luck

I have dark brown hair and I want lots of blonde highlights?

I have dark brown hair with medium blonde highlights. I LOVE IT. Everyone loves it. Everyone tells me to NEVER go back to plain dark brown. I also have a medium skin tone with bright green eyes. I always get asked if I have green contacts (and I don't)...so your color is about the same as mine so GO FOR IT!!! I have to condition my hair alot....once a week with a deep conditioner and use a good daily conditioner. My hair is also naturally curly and I roll it everyday with large rollers to relax the curl and sometimes use a flat iron....so it is naturally weaker than most hair types. You should be fine if you take care of your hair and find a good hair stylist.

I have light brown hair with natural caramel and auburn highlights. What color highlights would be be

My hair is shoulder length and i have natural caramel and auburn highlights. I wanted to highlight my hair but i dont know what color would be best!! what do you think.. And should they be skinny highlights or thick chunkcy highlights?? should i make them thicker around my face or not??

I have light brown hair with natural caramel and auburn highlights. What color highlights would be best???

strawberry blond!!!!

skinny but LOTS of them - and some around the face and some not

RANDOM is the name of the game for it to look "natural"

I have light brown hair with natural caramel and auburn highlights. What color highlights would be best???

Just two shades lighter then your natural hair color. Have them done kind of thin so that they will look natural.

I have light brown hair with natural caramel and auburn highlights. What color highlights would be best???

The highlights you have now are best. Don't ruin them with chemicals.

Is it the highlights thats done this to my hair?

My hair does need a cut, i will admit that...but im trying to grow it and my top layers are already short so im avoiding cutting it. I recently dyed and highlighted my hair, now where the highlights are (along the top) it feels like straw and doesnt look as healthy as before....should i just deep condition this to get my hair healthy again, or will i need to get it cut? What can i do to avoid getting it cut but keeping it healthy? I do straighten my hair quiet a lot, but im willing to only do that only occasionally if thats gonna help it to get healthy again.

Is it the highlights thats done this to my hair?

If you dye your hair in any way what so ever, you need to take extra care of it.

The high lights arnt to blame, its everything all together.

The dying

The straighning

The "needing a hair cut"

Firstly you need to invest in a good conditioner. "Aussie 3 minute miracle" is a good high street one. (the best you`ll get from the shelves anyway)

A good professional one that we sell in my salon is "joice kpak, reconstructer"

Which ever one you choose, apply it to your hair following the instructions on the product ATLEAST 3 times a week.

Only wash your hair once a week, because washing hair too often takes all the natural oils from your hair. this leads to your hair drying out and being starved of moisture. On average you should ony be washing your hair 2 a week anyway. so because your hair is damaged you should try to only wash it 1 a week (if you tend to have greasy hair, you should just wear it in a ponytail)

Only straighten your hair if you really need to (alot of the time people straighten there hair because there so obsessed with perfection) nobody needs to straighten there hair everyday. There are so many different styles out there to play with, and it will give you a change of look not to have it straight everyday.

You should ALWAYS get your hair "trimmed" not cut (as you put it) every 4-6 weeks. This will actually make your hair grow faster and take the damaged hair away. Not trimming your hair means that the split (damaged) hair just keeps riding up, up and up. but getting it trimmed will trim the ends off the split ends leaving your hair healthy and strong.

Gettin your hair trimmed every 4-6 weeks will make repair your hair and make it grow faster than just leaving it to grow would.

Good Luck

Is it the highlights thats done this to my hair?

instead of straightening it, try taking a big round brush and a blowdryer on wet hair... or the deep conditioner will really help. try mayo...

Is it the highlights thats done this to my hair?

you should def deep condition your hair, stop from straightening it and yeah ur gona def need a cut u dont have to chop everything up but for a few months get a trim and try to get rid of the bad hair...DO NOT COLOR IT FOR AT LEAST 4-6mon or ur hair WILL be damaged for good. u need to let it regain its strenght becuase of all the bleaching and the dying of the hair... do not straight it if anything try to use gel or mousse and style it that way for a while. hope this helps

Is it the highlights thats done this to my hair?

Highlights can be responsible for hair feeling like straw. Deep conditioning may help, and you will need loads of moisturising products. Speak with your hairdresser to get the good quality stuff, don't bother with the supermarket varieties - they never work as well. I usually have to have mine cut out when they go like straw. Straightening will add to your problems, your hair is being cooked further. Always straighten after you've used a protectant, and as you already realised, straighten less often if possible to give your hair a rest.

Is it the highlights thats done this to my hair?

Well i would recommend using a shampoo and conditoner used speficially for chemically damanged hair ,, i recommend "dumb blonde" by tigi and with this product you can use the conditioner as a hair mask also, its works great and help restore your hairs pH level and keep it hydrated and balanced also i would recommend redkens anti snap which you put on towel dryed hair as a leave in conditioner. It works wonders combined. GOOD LUCK!!

Is it the highlights thats done this to my hair?

condition every time u wash , intensive treatment twice a week, get a trim and use a heat protector every time

Highlights in hair are like seagull crap. Am I right?

What's with all the women round here? Is it now illegal not to have died blond hair, or (worse still) streaks and highlights like old sick? What happened to natural beauty?

Highlights in hair are like seagull crap. Am I right?

It's a self esteem issue, I've been guilty of it myself. A lot of women think that if they're not blond then they're not attractive. I grew out of that in college, but a lot of women NEVER get past it. One thing I've noticed and find particularly disturbing is that it seems like the hairstyle/uniform of the middle aged woman and the cruelest irony of all is that it only makes them look older. Of course, we're both stating personal opinions here, but I find it refreshing to hear it from your point of view as a man.

Highlights in hair are like seagull crap. Am I right?

You must have some real dodgy hairdressers in your neighbourhood!

Highlights in hair are like seagull crap. Am I right?

my natural beauty looks much better and brighter with highlights...I get more attention from my hubby, so.... oh, its a self esteem issue, give me a break ok miss I grew out of it in college.......

Highlights in hair are like seagull crap. Am I right?

I also don't like highlights for myself.but I think sometimes if the right colours are added then it does look good. it gives colour to the face.

Highlights in hair are like seagull crap. Am I right?

Yeah you are right I looks horrid.

I think you get a better and cheaper effect with a couple of luminous green and orange high lighter pens though !

Highlights in hair are like seagull crap. Am I right?

If they are done correctly, highlights are not that noticeable. Natural beauty..........oh, my, you do make me laugh. Cosmetics have been around for hundreds of years; where have you been?

Highlights in hair are like seagull crap. Am I right?

I don't like bleached blondes. It's like the lighter their hair, the less brain cells they have. I think it's all the chemicals. After a while anything looks good to them. Even seagull crap. I personally like my hair natural or a solid shade of red.

Highlights in hair are like seagull crap. Am I right?

If they are done correctly, they look nice. Blonde hair is highly overrated though. I don't know why women cannot be happy with what they have.

Highlights in hair are like seagull crap. Am I right?

some of us need all the help we can get (to hide the grey i my case) but honest. it doesnt make me a bad person

Highlights in hair are like seagull crap. Am I right?

your right.

Highlights in hair are like seagull crap. Am I right?

Lots of women have dyed their hair, not "died" it... even though you may think it looks dead.

I like highlights, I think it adds dimension to the hair.

If you prefer natural beauty, does that mean no makeup and hairy legs too?? What about toothpaste, it's not natural!

Oh wait, you speak as though you are from England, please disregard the toothpaste comment as I don't want you to take it the wrong way.

Highlights in hair are like seagull crap. Am I right?

Can you re-phrase that please?

Highlights in hair are like seagull crap. Am I right?

yes

Highlights in hair are like seagull crap. Am I right?

No Hi-Lites are coooooooool!

Highlights in hair are like seagull crap. Am I right?

Natural beauty... mmmhhh, OK, According to you, How far can we go before making you upset? bathing is OK, having a haircut is OK... Is waxing OK or against my natural beauty?... Give us a list of what is right or wrong to do... Jeez. I don't use highlights but what do you care if someone does?

Highlights in hair are like seagull crap. Am I right?

Well I dye my hair, but it's very close to my natural colour, I only do it to hide they grey!

Would it be ok to put highlights in my already semi-permanent dyed hair? if not, why, can i do this

I really want to add highlights to my hair. I had previously dyed my natural, sandy brown, hair color to a black/blue color. my hair has faded quite a bit and is about 2 to 3 shades away from my natural color. should I just wait until all of the color is gone or could i still highlight my hair myself right now? I'm looking to highlight it a honey blonde color and I have african american hair. My hair is already in good condition with no breakage that I can see. I'm really trying to avoid a hair salon, thanks!!

Would it be ok to put highlights in my already semi-permanent dyed hair? if not, why, can i do this at home?

If you can place the highlights on yourself with bleach mixed with 20 volume developer wrapped in foils then process with heat to the level of lightness you want then you wash out the bleach and you will probably want to tone it down with a semi permanent honey blond color. If you think you are able to do all that then go ahead and give it a try, I know I would want someone else to place the foils on for me and I'm a professional! Good Luck!!!

Would it be ok to put highlights in my already semi-permanent dyed hair? if not, why, can i do this at home?

Highlights are a lot harder than dying your whole head a color. Try using the dyes that wash out before committing to a dyi highlight job. That way you can see how it would look before you go permanent.

Would it be ok to put highlights in my already semi-permanent dyed hair? if not, why, can i do this at home?

You can lighten but you must use a bleach or other color remover. The choices in a public beauty supply are not the best. Hair color will not lift out hair color with the results you expect if at all. Here are the problems you are going to be left with highlights that have two different levels and tones. You would have to mix two different strength lighteners and apply to the appropriate areas and then adjust with toner. This is not something you should be attempting. Find a salon in your budget that works with African American hair. You sound like you have nice hair- keep it that way!

Would it be ok to put highlights in my already semi-permanent dyed hair? if not, why, can i do this at home?

The thing about at-home color is that it's really unpredictable. There's a reason salons charge more than $10 for a dye job, and it's not just because the salon costs more to run. I'd use a color-stripping shampoo (clarifying shampoo) until the color fades a bit more and then maybe try the home highlights if you're not concerned with possible consequences. It could turn out, but you never really know. Highlighting is bleaching so expect your hair to be super damaged and hard to comb.. been there, done that.
